Oak Hill Hospital
Oak Hill, West Virginia
Oak Hill's hospital is on Main Street directly across from the
former Tyree Funeral Home. Today, it
is named Plateau Medical Center. It is also within sight of the former
Burdette Pure Oil Station. Hank
Williams was pronounced dead at this hospital and then taken across the street
to Tyree Funeral Home.
The photos below were created from several different shots that
were spliced together. Please ignore the slight distortions at the splice
points. The photos were taken in July 2006.

I believe the grey section is the older part. The red
section probably did not exist in 1953.

In the above photo, the Oak Hill hospital occupies the left
half of the photo.
The former Tyree Funeral Home is the building in the right half.

In the above photo, the Oak Hill hospital is the grey
and red brick building taking up the left half of the photo.
The former Tyree Funeral Home can be seen at the right edge of the photo.

The above photo shows Main Street in Oak Hill.
Burdette's Pure Oil Station is at the far left.
The Oak Hill hospital is in the right third of the photo. A tiny bit of
Tyree Funeral Home is visible
at the right edge. A memorial (not visible) is just across the street from
the Pure Oil Station.
